Jim Moran Featured on the Cover of TIME Magazine

Jim Moran’s innovations and hard work helped him build his Hudson and then Ford dealerships into the world’s largest. He pioneered the use of television to sell cars and became well-known in the Chicago area as "Jim Moran, the Courtesy Man." As a result of his extraordinary success, Jim Moran was profiled in the March 24, 1961, issue of TIME magazine, the only automobile dealer ever to be featured on the cover.

After appearing on the cover of TIME magazine, Jim Moran said, "Things were never quite the same again. Letters poured in from all over the world. People started backing me for mayor. The networks sent out feelers to see if I wanted to do national TV...But I had a hard time taking all this about politics or national television very seriously. I was a car dealer and happy being one."
