JM Pontiac Sets an Early Standard for Being No. 1

Jim Moran opened Jim Moran’s Pontiac City in Homestead, Fla., in February 1968. Two years later, he received an opportunity to relocate his dealership to Hollywood, Fla., and build a modern facility from the ground up. He named it JM Pontiac. The grand opening was held on March 13, 1970, although the doors officially opened on February 23 before the facility was fully operational. Within 30 days, JM Pontiac was the largest volume Pontiac store in the world. A handful of associates who worked at JM Pontiac continue working at JM Family today. In 1994, the company sold JM Pontiac to Craig Zinn Automotive to focus its retail efforts on supporting Toyota dealerships across the Southeast.
