Filling Food Banks in the Fight Against Hunger

JM Family introduced the company’s first all-associate, companywide community event in 2009 — Fall Fill-Up. Through this annual food drive and hunger awareness campaign, associates raise funds for food banks in each of our business locations, with the amount collected increasing with every passing year. In 2014, we learned through our partner food banks that their greatest need came in the spring, as they ramped up to address growing demand during the summer months as a result of many children not receiving subsidized meals when school is out. With the goal of making the biggest difference possible, our annual campaign shifted to address this need, with a new name reflecting the change in timing — Spring into Giving! Regardless of the time of year, the annual event unites all associates across all locations to make a positive impact in the fight to end hunger. With the help of Corporate Philanthropy Committee members, we have collected thousands of pounds of food and close to $500,000 since the first campaign in 2009 through associates’ generosity and company donations.

Over the years, each location has put a unique spin on its fundraising efforts. In 2016 for example, Jacksonville’s senior leadership manned the grill for a hot dog fundraiser.
